DUROCK Shower System Mixing Valve Seals are designed to seal mixing valve openings in waterproof wall assemblies in tub surrounds and showers. They are made from the same material as the DUROCK Waterproofing Membrane and feature over-molded rubber gaskets. They are installed in the same manner as the DUROCK Waterproofing Membrane using unmodified thin-set mortar.

- Designed to direct water back into the shower compartment if a leak occurs between the escutcheon plate and the wall tile

Goes on nicely with just a thin layer of thin-set...
Goes on nicely with just a thin layer of thin-set mortar. Then mortar up to the washer from the tile edge helps. Water running down the tile wall has to go around the sizeable washer and not into the wall thru the tile opening. The outside of the washer is additionally sealed by the mixer valve cover plate.
