Faenza Nero 13 in. x 13 in. Ceramic Floor and Wall Tile (12.2 sq. ft. / case) - Product information
It is easy to picture sun-drenched streets of Spain when looking at the Merola Tile Faenza Nero 13 in. x 13 in. Ceramic Floor and Wall Tile. Save time and labor spent arranging smaller square tiles and instead install these durable ceramic slabs, which have nine squares separated by scored grout lines. This breathtaking black glaze features a collection of encaustic-inspired designs. Imitations of the scuffs and spots that are the marks of well-loved, worn, century-old tile and the rich red tones peeking through are the perfect contrast to the faded grays and black. These rustic scuffs and spots convince that this tile is truly aged. There are 3 different variations of scuffs and pattern arrangements available that are randomly scattered throughout each case, offering a sporadic patchwork look. Designed by interior architect and furniture designer Francisco Segarra, this tile is a true reflection of vintage industrial design. The scored grout lines can be grouted with the color of your choice or left ungrouted for a rugged finish. Bring rustic charm to your interior with this easy-to-maintain look.

We love this tile as our kitchen backsplash. We wanted something that would be cheerful but still neutral enough to blend in. My husband installed it, and it was much quicker with 9 squares in 1 actual tile. They feel pretty heavy and didn't chip at all when we were handling them. The 9 squares have space for grout so the reddish color you see in the online pictures disappears and blends smoothly with the separate big tiles. The fake aging marks, which I wasn't a huge fan of when closely looking at the tile from the box without grout, blends in nicely once it's up on the wall, grouted, and with other tile. The fake aging is a pastel-tan color and is on the edges of each of the 9 squares. We were originally going to use a white grout, but we did a practice run on an extra tile not on the wall and white made the tile look dark/dirty. The tiles look blue and white in person, but really the white is a light gray so we ended up using a light gray grout (Silverado, I believe). We would recommend these tiles!

STUNNING, OLDE WORLD CASUAL ELEGANCEFor the application of olde world floor tile without the effort and staggering cost of authentic Cuban tile, this is a stunner! Used in my Spanish Revival 1925 kitchen as it is profoundly more affordable than authentic Cuban tile. DId the floor in the pattern without solids in between. It's a stunner! Looks authentic and is a true stunner with the vintage reproduction Heartland appliances and custom cabinets. The floor is mistaken for being original to the home.
Read the previous review, which correctly stated the tiles are not all identical. However, these are historic reproducitons and are coming from Italy. These tiles are correctly designed, it is not a flaw. The accurate reproduction and application is that the NOT ALL MATCH PERFECTLY- which is part of the charm-these are to give an olde world casual elegant feel.
PRE ORDER YOUR GROUT- Dark Terracotta is seamlessly used.

I LOVE the unique look of this tile!I wanted something bold for my kitchen backsplash. (Doesn't it seem like everyone has white subway tile these days???) This tile is bold and gorgeous. We just installed this and it went up fairly easy. The tile sheets have 9 "little tiles" each so you can cut them apart if you need to get around things like outlets. This made tile setting easier. Also, there is no way to make a repeating pattern--don't even try.
The tiles have a rustic "worn" look to them and the grout color is like terracotta. We plan to buy the matching grout from Home Depot so as not to have conflicting grout lines. (I believe the grout color is called nutmeg.)

The red clay edges of the individual tiles are "rougher" than they appear. In other words, more of the red creeps onto the face of the tile, and I didn't like the look. I wanted more blue and white on each tile. This rough edge effect may not bother others, but it was not what I was expecting. I did return the tile, but if I had decided to use it, I would have had to return it for replacement anyway, as the top row of tiles arrived broken along the top seam. I suppose it could have been "re-glued" by the tile installer, but I was already bummed over the overall appearance , so .......
