I tried this material for cabinet repair. Initially it worked well, the pink to tan is cute, but unnecessary. The shelf life is TERRIBLE. In less than 5 weeks it had stiffened to an unusable state with a mottled brownish color. Wasted about half of the material. Use the old stuff in the can, with an acetone base- can be thinned and recovered for extended useful life. Should have taken a picture, but i just threw it in the trash.

Long time user.....disappointed!As a custom cabinet builder, I've use this product for years. The last tub I bought wasn't even half full! The one side was only about a 1/2" deep. I wish I would've weighed it but I had 6 cabinets waiting for paint.

DAP Plastic Wood works wonders!!!I use DAP Plastic Wood wood filler all the time for building props and set pieces in the entertainment industry. Many of the negative reviews I've seen here are based on not understanding the product or how to properly use it. Used correctly, this stuff is fantastic! It cures quickly, sands beautifully, and takes paint with ease. Thanks, DAP, for producing a terrific and reliable product. Keep up the good work!!! (Oh, and for those complaining about the can being 'half empty'... that's how it's supposed to be! The space is for mixing/thinning with acetone and adding color.)

DAP works great !I had a recent need for the product to fix part of my wood column outside that had a rotted hole. I added this product and was amazed by the coverage, lack of shrinkage and the ability to sand relatively quickly to a smooth surface. Well Done product !!!!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Just purchased this today... opened and more than half emptyI purchased a 16 oz can today opened and product raised from top over 2 inches started to use and looked in can over half empty... must have had a large air bubble in can. Only did a long 1/8" gap. Returning

This Dap plastic wood X filler kit is all that is needed to fill in holes. Filling in nail holes ...This Dap plastic wood X filler kit is all that is needed to fill in holes. Filling in nail holes is not my favorite pastime. It is just a chore that needs to be done to finish up a job. It comes with a spatula and sanding block so no need to buy a putty knife and sand paper.
It went on very easily. It is a much smoother consistency than another one that I have used. This one goes on pink, then dries to a cream color to show when it is dry. Then it can be sanded smooth.
This can be used to fill in any cracks in wood or where moulding or trim needs to be filled. It can be stained or painted and is easily cleaned up with a wet rag. After installing new laminate flooring, this plastic wood came in handy for the new trim.

Product itself is great...DO NOT buy the squeeze tubeI have used Plastic wood for the last few years and have had great success with it. I typically buy the small metal container but this time I chose to purchase the squeeze tube. BAD IDEA. I have had the same experience as other posters below. The product at the top of the tube was really gritty and half dry. I squeezed about 1/2" of product out of the tube and "POP" the entire bottom of the tube blew out. I had a giant glob of plastic wood sitting on my hardwood floors (wiped right up, so not a big deal, but if I had been on the carpet portion of the floor it would have been a mess). I ended up squeezing the entire tube worth of product out through the bottom into a plastic dish and completing my project, but there was no saving what was left and my project timeline got extremely condensed. Great product but DAP needs to do some serious work on the squeeze tube packaging.
