I let my sons do it!
First of all this was the bed room project for my sons 16 and 14. They were in charge of the entire remodel of their bed room from wall and trim colors to flooring. The Traffic master Hickory flooring was not their first choice. their first choice was something that was on clearance that was out of stock. As we looked further in the flooring department, we spied the Trafficmaster flooring section and were intrigued by the display video on it's instalation. I really liked the Hickory style and was very surprised that my boys liked it too. When our sale was rung up I got another surprise, it was on sale! Back home the boys immediately got started laying the flooring. I fell instantly in love with the color and texture when I checked on their progress. I mean Wow! Gorgeous! The Trafficmaster Allure Hickory flooring has been in use for about 9 months now and has teen, dog and furniture traffic abuse on it on a daily basis and it still looks new. I plan to get more of this product in the near future for the rest of my house.

Worth It
This product is simply amazing. It is truly all it claims to be. The look and feel of the flooring has met my expectations and then some.
For years I have wanted a new flooring in my house but, due to cost of materials plus labor, I had to live with the tile I had put down yrs ago. While shopping in Home Depot the display caught my eye. The look and feel of the floor was something I wanted in my home. It looked easy but, I had my doubts that it could be done. With much deliberation ... I picked my style & color and bought it.
My brother and I laid the bathroom in the tile look and the rest of the house (with help of family) in the Hickory plank.
I was in love with it when the first few feet went down. Once we got it started it got the ball rolling and it went pretty fast. Being on our knees was the hardest part :)
I would like to suggest this.
1. Have more than one pair of knee pads.
2. Have a china marker
3. A new/sharp box cutter for scoring & for tiny corner cuts, scissors.
4. A square of course.
5. No matter how accurate you think you are ... allow for at least %15 waste :)
6. If you have a table saw, this flooring cuts very well without jagged edges, straighter lines & your project will go a LOT faster.
7. No, you don't HAVE to remove your baseboards. In fact, it helped get the cuts so precise that I may not even put down corner round/molding.
8. If you do happen to get a tiny buckle ... TRIM IT. You can carefully pull the piece already in place back up ... don't just squish it down with your shoe and ignore it .. you made a mistake ... own it.
9. Vacuum your work area before, during and throughout your project. All the little trim pieces and other debris will stick to the adhesive edges.
10. Enjoy :)
I'm not in any way a pro & you can put this advice to work for yourself if you chose or do it your own way ... just dropping some advice.

Recent Installation - Happy so far
Just installed Allure trafficmaster hickory in 3 bedrooms directly on concrete subfloor. All in all, it is an easy install, but I do have some advice for those considering it.
1) First, make sure your floor is clean of any dust or other debris. After pulling up the carpet, I swept the room several times and then went over it with a vacuum. Even the tiniest particle of dirt, grit will stick to the grip strips and will cause you to have a bump. I don’t think i would recommend mopping the concrete before, even if you allow it to dry i would be afraid of condensation. (i thought about this but did not do it because of the worry about condensation).
2) Secondly, inspect each board carefully and make sure there are no imperfections. Our problem was that due to the way the boxes were handled when we bought them, we had problems in one of the rooms after the floor was laid. What i mean is that home depot strapped some of the boxes on the pallet too tightly and, especially on the end that has the grip strip it kind of bent and caused kind of a crease. The board laid allright, but the “crease” was visible after laying other boards. It’s better to get it right than to have to go back and try to replace (which we had to do in one room)
3)Third, if you see a problem as you lay the boards, go ahead and fix it or replace it then. There is a method to replace boards after installation, but it is not as easy as it looks.
4) As you are laying the floor, periodically walk (or have someone walk) over each section several times to make sure the boards adhere properly. Also, I would let each room “cure” overnight when finished and walk on it as much as possible, before bringing in heavy furniture. I believe this may have been our problem in one room, as we immediately brought in some heavy furniture the same day that we layed the floor, which i believe might have contributed to some boards kicking up on one end. Our only real problem floor was the second one we did (our bedroom) and we ended up having to replace several boards due to the imperfection problem mentioned above in item (2).
5) I have read on some comments on other sites about an odor that was unbearable. There is a slight odor when the floor is first put down. It is not unbearable. The first floor has been down approximately 1 month and the odor is gone. It is kind of a “new” smell, the same as you would have with a linoleum vinyl or even a new carpet smell.
6) This floor will show some shiny scratches if you move hard furniture around on it. I do not believe that this is any worse than a laminate floor though, as i have a family member with a laminate floor that has dents and scratches from a light weight office chair being rolled on the floor.
So, in conclusion my review is overall a good looking, fairly easy and fairly inexpensive floor. The big draw for me, aside from the ease of installation and the cost, was the fact that it can be mopped and since it is waterproof would not have any issues with any buckling if you were to get any water on it.
The floor looks amazingly like real wood and so far we are happy with it.
