Powerful Mixing Drill With Great Ergonomics
Any contractor that regularly dealing with grouts, thinsets or mortar powders knows its very important to have a powerful mixing drill. After doing some research, I decided on the RubiMix 9 Grout and Thinset Mixing Drill. After using it several time I have been very impressed with the ergonomics and performance.
The Rubimix 9 Mixing Drill has a powerful 10 Amp (1200 Watt) motor with a two-speed transmission and variable speed control. It comes with a 4 ¾ inch mixing paddle that connects directly to the motor spindle using the M14 connection. It also includes a ½ inch chuck attachment for use with paddles not compatible with the M14 Connection. An extra set of motor brushes are also included, along with several wrenches. The ergonomics for controlling the tool and changing the speed are very good. I especially like the low speed settings, which make it easier on startup.
The Rubimix 9 Grout and Thinset Mixing Drill is an ideal tool for anyone dealing with powder mixes in the construction trade. Highly Recommended!!

Real Timesaver
I'm in the middle of a bathroom remodel and have been mixing thinset by hand several times a week, so the arrival of this drill was greatly anticipated & it’s lived up to all my expectations. It made quick work of mixing 2/3 of a bag of grout and could have easily handled more. The drill is easy to use and it does a good job of thoroughly mixing the product –no pockets of unmixed material when you’re through. The directions leave a little to be desired, but assembly is pretty self explanatory, so it’s not a big deal. It’s slightly larger than I expected, but not as heavy as it looks. It’s easy to use and control, and it certainly expedites the mixing process. If you’re frequently mixing grout and/or thinset, you can’t go wrong with this drill!

Incredible mixer
I will never, ever mix mortar by hand again! This mixing drill has forever changed my opinion of mixing mortar and grout. I am a middle-aged female who has had hand surgery on both hands. While I refuse to let this stop my DIY projects, I dreaded any project where I had to mix large quantities of product because it made my hands and wrists ache for hours. Because of this mixer, I was able to tile my entire kitchen in ONE DAY with little more than sore knees afterward. This may be no big deal to the young, strong & healthy, but it was huge to me.
Another plus is the design of the paddle. Someone must have realized that the flat paddles splatter like crazy. The design of this type paddle makes it like using a large cake mixer. You can scrape the sides of the bucket with the mixer while using it. The strength of the motor is great in that it will mix large amounts of mortar regardless of how dry you need it. And at only 11lbs., it isn't heavy at all.
The mixer comes in a few pieces that easily screw together. It also comes with a separate 1/2" chuck if you want to use a different paddle. This is a great tool.

This drill/mixer is a beast!
Wait till you see this is max speed! Solidly built with comfortable grips and plenty of torque, this mixer will eliminate your tedious hand mixing, ensuring uniform consistency and thorough mixing. It’s odd that HD doesn’t push the fact that this is also a two handled drill, as it comes with a ½” chuck. The chuck is not a particularly good one, but hey. Every once in a while I had to drill larger holes, such as ¾” holes through oak beams in my barn. I am deathly afraid of my hand drill with such bits. When the bit catches it seems like I could easily break my wrist. Even worse, because I’m afraid of that I approach it timidly, thus assuring a catch. This is a much better setup for such operations. I’m really confused by one of the reviewers claiming that high speed is not fast enough for drilling. Rarely would you want anything much higher than the slowest speed when drilling, possibly especially with large bits. I absolutely disagree with that assessment. I’ve never seen a drill come with spare brushes so I don’t know if I should be thankful of the bonus or worried that they eat brushes. My Milwaukee drill of twenty something years has the original brushes. Maybe they’re thinking of continued commercial use at high speed. For the price I think this is a great mixer. Rubi does make a Deluxe version with opposing paddles. If you’re doing a lot of mixing you might want to consider that. I don’t see it on HD’s site, though.

AWESOME POWER...AWESOME STABILITY...COMFORTABLE GRIP
This mixer is a man among boys. Typically I use a cordless drill to mix thin set and grout. While the cordless stuff will do the job, they don't compare to this. I LOVE the grip allowing you to keep two hands on the mixer while you are mixing. You can adjust the speed with your thumb as you are mixing by using the dial on the right-hand side near the trigger. One of the other things that is really nice. It is 30 inches from the handle to the bottom of the mixing paddle. This is a very comfortable mixing height. If you are tiling a small bathroom or small foyer, then this is probably overkill. However, if you have a project where you are going to be mixing multiple bags or you have multiple jobs, then this is the mixing drill for you.
The only con.....it may be too strong and too nice.....if that can be a con. ;o)

An Absolutely Great Purpose Built Mixing Drill You Can Use!!!
You would probably never know you would need a purpose built mixing drill until you started using this drill. After using this drill, I don't know why I didn't get this sooner. It is an absolute pleasure to use.
Everything needed to get started is included. These items include:
Mixing Drill
2-piece screw in (threaded) mixing paddle
1/2" Chuck
2 Chuck Wrenches
2 Replacement Motor Bushings and Springs
Instruction Manual
The mixing drill incorporates a 1200W sealed, double insulated motor. The motor has 2 speeds giving you 0-620 rpm, and 0-810 rpm.
The speeds can also be adjusted by an easy to use Variable Speed thumb wheel.
The 2 speeds coupled with the variable speed thumb wheel virtually eliminates the powder spray when first mixing your materials, and is a very nice addition to have available.
The dual handles have a rubberized coating assisting you in controlling the drill while mixing.
This mixing drill will mix most materials such as grout, adhesives, resins, drywall compound, thinset, mortar, and cement.
The added chuck enables you to utilize non-threaded mixing paddles you may already have.
This drill weighs only 11 pounds, and having the dual handles greatly minimizes the effort needed to control your mixing. There is virtually no vibration while in use, and as a purpose built mixing drill, works so much better than your standard household drill.
Overall, this is one item you should seriously consider purchasing for your next project requiring mixing. You'd be surprised at how many other uses this mixer can actually accomplish with great results.
Very pleased, and Highly Recommended!

Exceeds my expectations
I've always used my 1/2 inch drill and universal paddle when mixing grout or mortar. The only complaint I had was even on high speed the drill runs too slowly. I saw this Rubi on HD's web site and decided to give it a try. The only assembly required is to screw the shaft to the mixer then the paddle to the shaft. Included are two spanner wrenches 19mm and 22mm. Also included are a 1/2 inch chuck, double threaded shaft for installation and a set of extra motor brushes.
The controls are simple enough. There's a manual rotary Hi-Lo switch, a variable speed rotary dial, a saftey button and an on-off button. When the manual speed control is set to Low speed the paddle will run between 0-620 RPM, on High it runs 0-810 RPM. Speed is controlled by the rotary dial.
The mixer ships with a 120mm paddle and an optional 100mm paddle, pictured below, is available from Home Depot for $10.68. The model number is 24959. When installed the included 1/2 inch chuck allows for the use of any other paddle or accessory. The machine runs smoothly, is capable of more RPM than I'll ever need and has plenty of power.
The manufactures warranty is two years and the instruction manual s printed in 27 languages.

Great heavy-duty mixer/drill. Easy to use. No vibration. Perfect for mixing powder-based material and paint.
This Rubimix-9 mixer from Rubi worked where my blue and yellow brand drills failed. The 1200 watt motor, while powerful and relatively quiet, makes a faint grinding noise; like gears churning, that initially concerned me, but I believe is normal because I experienced no problems during use. This mixer is suitable for use with all powder-base materials such as thinset, mortar, cement, plaster and dry wall, but also works well to mix paint. The steel paddle with spiral design mixes materials quickly and completely without violently spinning the bucket or splashing the material being mixed. I especially like that this mixer performs double-duty as a heavy-duty ½-inch drill, and includes a chuck, a couple of wrenches and a pair of replacement motor bushings. The operation of this tool is smooth, free of vibration, and feels balanced in the hand, with the variable-speed control and on/off button conveniently located in the handle where they are accessible and easy to operate. The handle grip is comfortable, but plastic. Although I prefer a rubber grip, I typically wear padded gloves with a non-slip palm while working. While I am partial to the flashy red paddle, the paint is soft and chipped off the nut while installing the paddle to the mixer using the included wrench. While I think there is some room for minor improvement, overall, I’m satisfied with this tool, but not so much with the 60-page instruction manual containing translations of the original in a dozen languages. The manual had an abundance of safety warnings, but contained little information regarding use of the tool, so I didn’t find the manual to be particularly useful or informative, as it left me searching for answers to my questions from other sources.
